Mary Cowart Hernandez, 78, died December 23, 2007 at Candler Hospital. She was born in Collins, Georgia and lived most of her life in Savannah. Mrs. Hernandez was retired after 20 years with Savannah Gas Company, a homemaker and attended Bible Baptist Church. Her husband, Frank Joseph Hernandez, Sr., sons, John W. "Billy" Hernandez and Frank Joseph Hernandez, Jr., preceded her in death.

Surviving are three daughters and a son-in-law, Christine H. Stevens, Mary Frances Hernandez, Terri H. and Henry Sutton all of Savannah; son and daughter-in-law, Michael D. and Marsha M. Hernandez of Savannah; sixteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one niece and two nephews.

Visitation: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

Funeral: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 27, 2007 in the Hodgson Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors.

Burial: Catholic Cemetery.
